The catacomb bookstore - coffee house
We’d like “The Catacomb Bookstore - Coffee House” to be a stop on a journey for inquisitive minds and hearts wishing to reach for something meaningful in life.
As Orthodox Christians, we see our roots in the first apostolic community in Jerusalem. At the same time we realize that Orthodoxy is not a form of esoteric knowledge or worship; it is the living experience of communion with the Holy Trinity. We ground ourselves spiritually in the experience of the Early Church of Christ, but we live in today’s world.
When you stop at our bookstore, you will find a quiet place to read or browse our books. You can taste our coffee or a latte. Bring a laptop; we have wireless access. The bookstore conducts lectures about Orthodox theology and art. One should keep in mind that although the Orthodox Church is not very well known in the United States, it has been around for two thousand years, and it shaped the culture of entire countries. Greece, Russian, Romania, Georgia, Armenia and Ethiopia are just a few examples of countries with a predominately Orthodox population. There is an abundance of study resources on Orthodox theology, spirituality and art. We carry them mostly in English language.
In addition to our store location, we hope that these web pages will provide many opportunities for mutual learning and conversation.
